Marvel has quietly recast Captain America and Iron Man for new MCU series

When it comes to iconic Marvel Cinematic Universe characters, it’s hard to top the likes of Captain America and Iron Man.

Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. brought so much to the roles that it’s hard to imagine any other actor playing the roles of Captain America or Iron Man — especially within the MCU. This is perhaps why it is so shocking to discover that Marvel has quietly recast the two iconic roles for one of their high-profile Disney Plus series!

Has Marvel recast Captain America and Iron Man in the MCU?

In a surprise twist, Marvel has quietly recast two of the biggest characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in its upcoming Disney Plus series What If? — a move that is sure to disappoint and shock fans.

Although Marvel’s new animated series will feature a voice cast that will see the likes of Hayley Atwell, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael B. Jordan, Natalie Portman, Jeremy Renner, Paul Rudd, Mark Ruffalo, Sebastian Stan, and Chadwick Boseman returning to voice the characters they originated within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there are two major characters Marvel is recasting for the show: Captain America and Iron Man.

As reported by Variety, the roles of Tony Stark and Steve Rogers will be recast in the new Disney Plus original series as Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans will not be returning to voice the characters they originated in the live-action MCU Universe.

Who voices Captain America in What If?

At this time, it has not yet been revealed who will be voicing Captain America in Marvel’s newest Disney Plus series What If? but one thing that is certain is the character won’t be voiced by Chris Evans in the series. One possible option is voice actor Roger Craig Smith, who voiced the character of Steve Rogers in several recent Marvel animated series including Avengers Assemble, Spider-Man, and Marvel Future Avengers.

Who voices Iron Man in What If?

Much like it is unknown who will be voicing Captain America in What If?, Marvel has not yet confirmed who will be suiting up as Iron Man in the series. We know Robert Downey Jr. won’t be back as Tony Stark, but the identity of the actor taking on the role has not been announced just yet.

It’s possible actor Adrian Pasdar will be voicing Iron Man in What If? as the actor has voiced the character of Tony Stark in several animated titles for Marvel including Avengers Assemble, Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. and Ultimate Spider-Man.
