Arrow legend John Diggle turns up in this week’s episode of Superman and Lois, confirming that the show does take place in the Arrowverse.

Superman and Lois has built a reputation on surprising people. The CW’s newest superhero series features the most cinematic presentation you’ll probably ever see from a superhero show on network television and one of the most engaging long-form storylines in recent memory.

It really surprised people with its most recent episode as the Man of Steel did the one thing he promised he never would: Join Morgan Edge/Tal-Rho in his mission to bring evil Kryptonians to earth. And even though he did so to protect his family, that still means that one of the world’s most beloved heroes has set his sights on destroying the planet.

Lois reached out to the one man who could help: John Henry Irons a.k.a. Steel. However, she also crossed paths with none other than Arrow‘s John Diggle (David Ramsey), confirming that, yes, Superman & Lois is set in the Arrowverse.

Is Superman and Lois set in the Arrowverse?

Superman and Lois is indeed set in the Arrowverse. The reason that it isn’t clear is down to the fact that it’s set after Crisis On Infinite Earths – which reset much of the continuity. The less references to what happened on shows like SupergirlArrow and The Flash, the fact that Clark and Lois have twin teenager sons instead of one baby; it’s all down to Crisis.

Nonetheless, this is the same Clark Kent and Lois Lane that we first met on Supergirl and the arrival of John Diggle confirms that the Arrowverse is still very much intact – and that Superman & Lois is very much a part of it. In fact, the second episode was supposed to feature a picture of Lois, Clark and the Girl of Steel herself Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist) but it was cut for timing reasons.

The reason that there haven’t been any major references to the other shows is down to the fact that the producers were afraid of spoiling anything happening in them.
