Elizabeth Olsen received the honor she deserves with an Emmy nomination and here’s why she deserves that honor!

WandaVision wasted little time in becoming a global phenomenon when it was released earlier this year. The first property set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a year and a half – and the first ever Marvel Studios Disney Plus series – it was one of the last true forms of water cooler television as virtually everyone was talking about the MCU show.

Marvel Studios has been working hard to ensure that the show nabs some Emmy nominations – which really isn’t too much to ask considering how brilliant it was. Being part of a huge superhero/comic book franchise was a concern as that genre is often overlooked at award ceremonies but as WandaVision expertly segued its way in and out of different genres, hopes were high that it would land some well-deserved nominations.

Regardless of that, Elizabeth Olsen proved that she is one of this generation’s most incredible performers and delivered a performance worthy of not just an Emmy but all the awards.

Did WandaVision receive any Emmy nominations?

WandaVision did indeed receive multiple Emmy nominations, with Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany both being nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress and Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie and WandaVision itself nabbing an Outsanding Limited Series nomination.

It goes without saying that it was well-earned all around, especially for Elizabeth Olsen.

5. It finally ends the genre bias against comic book properties

As exceptional as both Elizabeth Olsen and WandaVision were, there were a lot of people out there hoping for either one to get nominated because it would definitively end the genre bias of awards ceremonies when it comes to comic book properties.

There have always been exceptions to the rule, with the late, great Heath Ledger’s stunning performance as The Joker in The Dark Knight rightfully earning him an Academy Award in 2008, Black Panther and Joker receiving big nominations and wins in 2019 and 2020 respectively and Watchmen receiving some big wins at last year’s Emmy Awards.

Having Olsen and WandaVision receive some well-earned wins would move things on a great deal, highlighting that comic book-inspired properties deserve that kind of recognition too. And being a property from the MCU would relay that message that much louder.
