2. She transformed the Scarlet Witch into the MCU’s most formidable hero

Marvel fans have been discussing the MCU’s overlooking of Wanda Maximoff for a long time now. Known as one of the most powerful characters in comic book history, the Scarlet Witch only occasionally flourished in the MCU movies. That all changed with WandaVision and a large part of that is down to Olsen’s chilling performance.

It says a lot that the person we just described as the leading lady of a sitcom also has the capability of chilling us to the bone, but that’s the mastery of Elizabeth Olsen. And she did so effortlessly, instantly dropping Wanda’s charming smile to turn on the red-eyed warrior persona and revive the Sokovian accent whenever someone dared to disrupt her happiness.

Words could never fully describe the goosebumps that her evolution into the Scarlet Witch made us all feel, but it goes without saying that anyone who can captivate viewers like that is worthy of an Emmy Award let alone a nomination.

1. Her emotional performance was stunning

We’ve talked about how incredible Elizabeth Olsen’s comic timing was and how she portrayed the vengeful side of Wanda Maximoff better than ever, but perhaps the real standout moments for the exceptional performer were the emotional ones.

It’s hard to fully put into words what it felt like seeing Wanda break down in tears when she didn’t “feel” her beloved Vision. Just as she broke down in the spot of land he had purchased for them to build their house, it felt like our hearts were also being ripped from our chest because of how truly powerful Olsen’s performance was.

Emotion is no stranger to this star, nor are comedy and superheroics, but everything Olsen tackled in WandaVision was that much more powerful than before, firmly solidifying her as one of the most engaging performers of our generation.

All episodes of WandaVision are now available to watch on Disney Plus.
