Between the recent influx of Disney Plus original series and the arrival of new Marvel Cinematic Universe films, there has never been a more exciting time to be a Marvel fan.

As we’ve seen with the franchise’s most recent releases, Marvel has proven it’s willing to push the limits like never before with movies and shows, unlike anything the MCU has seen before. This is a trend that will continue for years to come as the studio enters the next chapter, a chapter that will see many first for the MCU including its first official holiday special!

We’re, of course, referring to The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special event, which will soon be making its way to Disney Plus as the MCU’s first-ever holiday special one which promises to be a holiday extravaganza for the ages!

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special release date

At this time, Disney Plus has not set an official release date for The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special but it has confirmed the special will be coming sometime in December 2022.

It’s possible the special might arrive at the beginning of the month to give fans the chance to enjoy the holiday fun on a loop in the weeks leading up to Christmas. It’s also possible, Disney Plus could choose to release the holiday special just before the holiday or even a week before Christmas Eve with a Friday, Dec. 23, 2022 release date.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will be penned by James Gunn and is expected to star all of the key players from the Guardians of the Galaxy film franchise. This would include Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Dave Bautista (Drax), Bradley Cooper (Rocket Raccoon), Vin Diesel (Groot), Karen Gillan (Nebula), and Pom Klementieff (Mantis). We’re also expecting Zoe Saldana will return as Gamora, but her involvement in the project has not yet been confirmed.

At this time, Marvel has not yet released any details about the upcoming holiday special and it’s unlikely we’ll learn much about The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special prior to its release given how Marvel is known to keep the details of its shows and movies under wraps. One thing we do know is that the special will center around some sort of holiday-themed adventure featuring the Guardians of the Galaxy!
