The Flash season 7’s finale featured a jaw-dropping return that caught fans completely off-guard. This post contains spoilers for The Flash season 7, episode 18.

We love when a TV show pulls off a great shock that few of its viewers saw coming. The Arrowverse hasn’t exactly been short of shocks throughout its run as network TV’s most dominant shared universe of superheroes but we have gotten somewhat used to them over the nearly nine years its been doing so. That experience, however, did not prepare us for the shocking turn of events that took place in Central City during the season 7 finale of The Flash.

The Flash season 7 has seen Barry Allen’s home undergo an immense amount of torment as it was susceptible to the wrath of the four Flash Forces whenever they were in vengeful moods and it also found itself caught in the middle of the Godspeed War.

The latter storyline served as the basis for the finale. However, that finale also featured an unexpected return.

Who made a comeback in Central City?

The Reverse-Flash returns in The Flash season 7

In the midst of all the Godspeed chaos, Eobard Thawne himself, the Reverse-Flash, made an electrifying comeback.

The villainous speedster and archenemy of the Scarlet Speedster showed up during a struggle between Barry and August Heart and plunged his hand through the latter, almost killing Godspeed.

The Man in the Yellow Suit had not been seen since midway through the sixth season when the events of Crisis On Infinite Earths left him without a body. However, as he enjoyed taking over Harrison Wells on many occasions, he attempted to make himself comfortable in Nash Wells’ body. That is, until he was ejected by Team Flash and burst into the atmosphere.

This marks the OG Flash cast member Tom Cavanagh’s second guest appearance since he departed as a series regular earlier this season (and the first one in over a season as his most famous character). As this was the second part of the 150th episode celebration, it was only fitting that the veteran be a part of it.
