She-Hulk may be battling these Marvel villains in Disney Plus series
A classic supervillain group known as The Wrecking Crew is reportedly set to appear in the Tatiana Maslany led She-Hulk series.
It seems that She-Hulk may have more foes to battle. As revealed by The Cosmic Circus, a group of supervillains known as The Wrecking Crew is set to make an appearance on Marvel’s She-Hulk series for Disney Plus.
Despite the series led by Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk being in the middle of principal photography, there have been a lot of headlines in relation to the superhero legal-comedy show in recent weeks.
First, Jameela Jamil was cast as the Big Bad Mary MacPherran/Titania on the show and then came the rumors about Skaar possibly being introduced.
But what of this Wrecking Crew rumor?
Who are The Wrecking Crew?
No guys, this is not the classic American electro music group World Class Wreckin’ Cru that the rumor is referring to. No, these comic book baddies are a quartet of criminals enhanced by Asgardian magic.
Created by Len Wein and Sal Buscema, the original members consisted of The Wrecker (Dirk Garthwaite), Bulldozer (Henry Camp), Piledriver (Brian Philip Calusky) and Thunderball (Dr. Eliot Franklin) and they first appeared in The Defenders Vol. 1 No.17 back in 1974. They were formed when Dr. Franklin tasked Garthwaite to retrieve a gamma bomb he designed.
Garthwaite was granted powers when he encountered Kamilla, the Norn Queen, who had mistaken him for Loki and gathered other fellow prisoners Henry/Bulldozer and Brian/Piledriver to grip on his enchanted crowbar. And following an electrical storm, they became The Wrecking Crew.
The sinister group fought against the likes of Thor, and are generally part of his rogues’ gallery. They also battled many members within the superhero community such as Captain America, the Avengers, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Spider-Man, Daredevil, She-Hulk and many more.
What part could the Wrecking Crew play on She-Hulk?
Given their origins within the comics, The Wrecking Crew can sound like C or D list villains the likes of which would see in Saturday morning cartoons that usually break out of prison, cause havoc then return back to jail. With that in mind, they could have a minor role as some lackeys that She-Hulk would face.
There are some versions of the heinous group of cronies adapted in media such as The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes where their powers were linked to gamma radiation somehow (but it was unexplained). This could be one element that might explain their apparent motives in the MCU.
