Hawkeye: 5 reasons you should be excited for the Disney Plus show

Maya Lopez
This writer has and will continue to bring up the importance of representation and it’s great to see Marvel continuing to champion it for its fourth phase. In Marvel Comics, Maya Lopez (a.k.a. Echo) is a deaf indigenous woman and the studio has made the effort to cast a young woman that is both in the amazing casting of Alaqua Cox.
Maya is an incredibly interesting character, with photographic reflexes like Taskmaster, except it doesn’t seem like she loses part of her memory when she gets a new skill. Maya’s debut here will carry her push into her solo series – which is, of course, a brilliant strategy for setting up a spin-off. Now, people will know who she is before her project debuts.
Hopefully Charlie Cox’s Daredevil will return at some point down the line and she can be part of his storyline given the pair’s history in the comics.
Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine could return
Originally, Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine was supposed to make her debut in Black Widow during the post-credits scene. Due to the pandemic delaying that movie’s release, however, we first saw her in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
In her first appearance, she recruited John Walker into her fold (probably the Thunderbolts). At the end of Black Widow, we see that Yelena Belova is also working for her as. Who knows who else she is working for her. Which brings us to the next section.
