Captain Americas are being targeted
Comic book: United States of Captain America No. 1 (of 5)
Steve Rogers was starting to doubt the meaning of Captain America. Something he’s struggled with in the past. This time, it seems to be worse than normal. Now, he seems to be struggling with the idea of the American Dream and what it actually means. As he’s contemplating this, someone unbelievably fast comes in and steals his shield. It’s stranger because they’re dressed as Captain America.
Steve calls Sam Wilson and the two of them go after him. Along the way, the duo comes across Aaron Fischer, the Captain America of the Railways. While Aaron is explaining who he is to Steve and Sam, a sniper takes a shot at Aaron. Two incidents of Captain America being targeted. They won’t be the last. Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson decide to go on a cross-country trip and they’ll both be wearing their Captain America uniforms.
Why is this important?
Aaron Fischer isn’t the only person taking the mantle of Captain America to defend their part of the country. If Aaron was targeted, the others will be as well. Steve and Sam will have a lot of ground to cover. Aaron Fischer was only the first of many.
We’re going to see a lot of different versions of Cap along the way. It’ll be cool to see how they look and why they chose to use the Captain America name and uniform. Even though this is only a five-part mini-series, this writer fully expects to see more than five versions of the Sentinel of Liberty.
