Shang Chi betrayed by his brother

Comic book: Shang Chi No. 2

This series started his solo run (Shang Chi) teaming up against Spider-Man. A mission that ended with Spider-Man concerned about where Shang’s loyalty lies. In issue No. 2, Shang s looking to buy the Cosmic Cube from an evil organization. After being outbid, he calls in Captain America.

In the end, the duo gets the cube by working together. Later, Shang’s brother Deadly Sabre doesn’t agree with what he did. So much so that Sabre betrayed Captain America and his brother by making holograms of the villains Cap captured. Now Cap has to wonder if his friend betrayed him.

Why is this important?

Shang Chi has taken over his father’s empire. It’s an evil empire that he’s attempting to use for good. The problem here is the other heroes don’t know what he’s up to. All they see is the optics. And, to his peers, they don’t look good.

First, Spider-Man sees a bunch of Shang’s people taking things that should go to the police. Next, Madame Hydra tells Captain America that Shang is the one that betrayed him. That’s two primetime superheroes that may lose trust in him. Next month, he’s going up against Wolverine. This will be crucial. Logan understands that optics aren’t always what they seem. Then again, they’re both going after a mutant.
