Signal is Gotham’s protector
Comic book: Batman Secret Files: The Signal
The Bat-Family primarily works at night. There are certain characters like Nightwing, Harley Quinn, and Red Hood working during the day. In Batman Secret Files: The Signal, Batman gave Duke Thomas (The Signal) the reins during the day. He’ll be protecting Gotham City from sunrise to sunset. He’s a meta-human that’s born and raised in Gotham. Because of that, Batman said that Duke has the opportunity to have one of the best Gotham City hero stories of all time.
On his first mission, he comes across something called the white market. A place where villains buy and sell weapons and other knick-knacks to each other. It also exists on a different spectrum. They were also killing civilians to show that the weapons worked. After getting caught, Signal barely escaped. Luckily, he discovered that he can use all of his powers at once.
Why is this important?
People always wondered who protected Gotham City during the day. Now, we have an answer. Signal being the one is a smart move. Signal has only been around for seven years. Having him become the leader and protector of the worst city in DC Comics is a huge deal. That means DC Comics has faith in the character. Hopefully, this one-shot will turn into an ongoing series. Comic book fans need more of him.
