Spider-Man: No Way Home release update: Has the MCU movie been delayed?
We may have to wait a little longer for Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is one of the most anticipated movies on the horizon. The third Spider-Man movie set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it will see the return of Tom Holland as the wallcrawler for a new adventure that promises to be a greater spectacle than the two previous offerings.
A sequel to 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming and 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home, it is expected to delve into the fallout of the latter’s major cliffhanger as all of the world – and, perhaps more importantly, Peter Parker himself – processes the shocking revelation over Spidey’s true identity.
However, that’s essentially all we know about the movie and Marvel Studios have been incredibly mysterious about what the plot will entail, with rumors suggesting that a ton of familiar faces from previous non-MCU Marvel properties will show up in a multiverse-spanning adventure.
But what else do we know about the movie and why are there persistent rumors that the movie might be getting delayed?
Spider-Man: No Way Home release date
Spider-Man: No Way Home is currently set to be released on December 17, 2021. However, there have been a number of rumors suggesting that it will be delayed very soon.
Will Spider-Man: No Way Home be delayed?
It’s unknown if Spider-Man: No Way Home will be delayed but there is mounting evidence to suggest that it will be. First of all, with fall 2021 already seeing the releases of MCU movies Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Eternals perhaps Marvel Studios could be afraid of an MCU overlap, especially as there could be a domino effect if one of those movies were to get delayed.
Moreover, the recently-released Venom: Let There Be Carnage trailer marketed the movie as being in theaters “This Fall” – which seems strange given that its release date was already confirmed to be September 24. While Venom 2 is not an MCU movie, it is one of Sony’s Marvel movies set in their universe of Spider-Man characters and Sony are also part of the team behind Spider-Man: No Way Home. Thus, if the Venom sequel is delayed, it’s unlikely that Sony would want both movies being released too close together.
Some Twitter users are also reporting that Spider-Man 3 is no longer listed under the “Coming Soon” section on the AMC theaters website.
Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer
As for when the trailer will be released, that remains unclear. Fans have been anticipating it for some time now but Marvel Studios tends to wait a little closer to the release time before unveiling the trailer. As the release date itself is in question right now, it could be some time before a trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home makes its presence felt.
