Marvel’s What If…? has arrived with its first episode but just how long is the series premiere?

It’s the start of a new era for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The original Marvel Studios programming on Disney Plus has explored different facets of the MCU, with WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Loki all proving to be major successes. Now, however, we’re about to take a trip into a different aspect of the shared universe: The Multiverse.

The multiverse is on its way to the MCU but there is a brand new show on the horizon set to give us a preview of the endless possibilities that the MCU could provide us with. That show is none other than the animated Marvel’s What If…? and it will explore how things in the movies could have gone differently if certain aspects of the script were flipped.

As fans prepare for a new era with the first animated Marvel Studios show, they undoubtedly have a lot of questions. One of those questions will likely revolve around the runtime.

On that note, let’s talk about how long the first Captain Carter-centric episode of What If…? is and how it compares to previous Disney+ shows set in the MCU.

How long is What If…? season 1, episode 1?

The series premiere of Marvel’s What If…?, titled “What If… Captain Carter Were The First Avenger”, clocks in at 32 minutes. That makes it considerably shorter than the vast majority of the live-action Marvel Studios episodes, with most of WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Loki‘s episodes ranging somewhere between 42 to 60 minutes.

It does, however, put it around the same length as some of WandaVision‘s earlier episodes, which adopted a short length because they took inspiration from classic sitcoms.

What If…? adds new episodes to Disney+ every Wednesday for the next eight weeks.
