What If…?: 5 burning questions fans need answered from episode 1
By Mark Lynch
4. What if…? Tony Stark
Instead of giving up, Steve Rogers became the Hydra Stomper. Realistically, though, he was the first Iron Man. Howard Stark created the suit of armor that his son, Tony Stark, would have created decades later. As Uatu said, one moment changes the course of history.
Now, we don’t know what Tony Stark became or if that moment changed his father. Howard may have become emotionally available. That alone could have taken away Tony’s arrogance. He could have become a humanitarian a lot earlier. Or, it could have made him worse. When it comes to the Starks, you just never know.
3. What if…? Winter Iron Man?
In Captain America: The First Avenger, Bucky appeared to died. In Captain America: The Winter Soldier, we found out that he survived and became Hydra’s weapon called the Winter Soldier. When the train exploded in this episode, this writer thought that Steve blew up with it. Towards the end of it, however, we see that this wasn’t true. But, what if we didn’t see him in the end?
Sure, Steve Rogers was a skinny kid. Not someone that would be taken seriously by the threats he faced. However, that works to his advantage. He could go places and no one would ever assume he was the assassin that’s been working for decades. Also, after the brainwashing, he would have shown others how to use the Hydra Stomper. A Steve Rogers Winter Soldier? Now that would’ve changed the course of history.
