Hank found himself in a life-threatening situation in Titans season 3, but did he survive his brush with death, or have we seen the last of Hawk?

Titans season 3 has finally arrived and the newly minted HBO Max original wasted no time in picking up right where season 2 last left off with an action-packed premiere event. After an extended break, the DC Comics series returned for its third season with a special 3-episode premiere event and the writers did not hold back!

** Warning Titans season 3 spoilers ahead **

The three-episode premiere event kicked off with the apparent death of Jason Todd, only for us to discover in episode 2 that Jason was very much alive and had taken up the mantle of Red Hood. Under his new mantra, Jason took a villainous turn beginning what promises to be a ruthless reign of terror in the streets of Gotham.

After learning the truth that Jason had survived his brush with the Joker and was the man behind the mask of the mysterious villain behind a wave of dastardly deeds, to say the Titans were conflicted and unsure of what to make of the realization would be an understatement.

While the team attempted to figure out what to make of things, Jason sought out help from Hank Hall, calling his former pal and convincing him he was in need of dire assistance. His curiosity piqued, Hank left Wayne Manor to meet up with Jason only to find himself in a life-threatening situation at the end of the third episode of the season.

Does Hawk die in Titans season 3?

After being lured into a trap by Jason, it was revealed that Jason had embedded a bomb within Hank’s chest set to detonate once the timer ended. Only as the Titans discovered, the timer wasn’t counting down time, rather it was counting down the number of heartbeats Hank had left before the bomb would detonate.

Never ones to give up, the Titans began working on a solution to safely extract the bomb before it exploded, killing Hank in the process. With Conner working on a solution, Dawn decided to take things into her own hands in seeking out Jason for a solution to the problem he created.

With time running out, a desperate Dawn attempted to reason with Jason but her inability to see through his ploy ultimately resulted in the bomb detonating, seemingly killing Hank upon impact.

Who killed Hank in Titans season 3?

Although Red Hood was the one who implanted the bomb in Hank’s chest which ultimately led to his death, it was actually Dove who pulled the trigger which detonated the bomb before the timer ran out.

With time running out, Dove sought out Jason who presented her with a choice: kill him using the provided gun in order to save Hank. Despite Dick’s attempt to convince Dove not to give into Jason’s ploy in trying to remind her that there was still another way with Connor working hard on a solution back at Wayne Manor, Dove called Jason’s bluff and pulled the trigger.

Unfortunately, it was all part of an elaborate ruse as the trigger on the gun given to Dove was actually the detonator to the bomb in Hank’s chest. So when Dove pulled the trigger in anticipating the gun to fire off a round into Jason, she actually detonated the bomb causing Hank’s shocking death. Making the moment even more heartbreaking was that Conner had just figured out a way to successfully disarm the bomb mere seconds before it went off.
