Learning from your mistakes

A crucial part of growing up is learning from mistakes you made in your past. It’s doubly so when you’re in high school and the Amazing Spider-Man at the same time. In each solo Spider-Man movie, Peter has been close to causing the deaths of people. Usually because he makes mistakes that any person his age would.

We can’t necessarily blame him for his blunder along the way. He’s being forced to grow up faster than anyone could expect. This is all while trying to save his neighborhood and eventually fight for the preservation of the universe (Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame). Nonetheless, as we’ve seen, Peter learns from his mistakes and it makes him a better person and hero for it; just like we learn from our mistakes as we mature.

Wanting to be part of something

Peter looked at being one of the Avengers as the epitome of cool. They saved the world on more than a few occasions as a team and individually. Plus, they’re a group consisting of a living legend, a genius, a god, some of the best spies in the world, and a Hulk. Just being part of that seemed like a dream come true for him. For us, wanting to be part of a group is something we can all relate to.

This doesn’t mean that you’re looking to be in with the jocks or any of the other stereotypical cool groups. It just means you want to be accepted by your peers. There’s something special about being part of a team that accepts you for who you truly are. When Peter found his people in the hero community and in high school, this writer could relate to the kind of joy Peter felt.
