Poison Ivy is about to make Gotham a bit greener in Batwoman season 3
By Scott Brown
Gotham should expect to look a bit greener during the upcoming third season of Batwoman as a classic Bat-villain arrives.
In an exclusive from Deadline, it has been announced that Bridget Regan will be the latest actress to play the role of Pamela Isley, aka Poison Ivy, in the upcoming third season of Batwoman.
Regan is the most recent cast member to be announced for the third season of the show as Nick Creegan and Victoria Cartagena have also been announced as part of the cast as well, playing the characters of Marquis Jet and, fan-favorite detective, Renee Montoya respectively.
With the inclusion of Poison Ivy, this marks the first real foray into the world of Batman’s rogues gallery in a meaningful way for the series, as there has yet to be many appearances of characters that are considered such beyond say, Victor Zsasz. Yes, Black Mask appeared in season 2, but he’s more of a Gotham villain as a whole rather than specifically just Batman like Ivy is.
Realistically though, Poison Ivy could be the most powerful villain that the show has had so far from both a power-level perspective and character-driven perspective. There’s a reason that the character has lasted for as long as she has and it’s not only because she’s pretty.
She’s been an incredibly interesting and dynamic character since her debut, other than Batman & Robin, and so it will be exciting to see what Batwoman brings to the table with her. And who knows, this may be a way to introduce Harley Quinn into the mix as well, seeing as how the two are often nigh inseparable in most modern comics and adaptations.
For fans of Batwoman though, you won’t have to wait long for the series to grace television screens again as the third season is set to premiere on Oct. 13.
