If there is one thing that moviegoers have come to expect ever since the pandemic first began, it’s that there is no telling when a studio might choose to unexpectedly change the release date of an upcoming movie. Since spring 2020, all of the major studios have had to adjust their schedules in order to determine the best approach to releasing their previously scheduled films.

Within the last year and a half, we’ve seen the likes of Marvel, Sony, Warner Bros, Universal and more shuffle around their lineups in delaying the releases of their biggest blockbusters, while also turning to alternative release strategies such as same-day streaming or abbreviated theatrical runs.

Among the many movies which has seen its release date change several times already is Vemon: Let There Be Carnage, the highly anticipated sequel to Sony’s breakout hit starring Tom Hardy in the title role.

Originally set to release on Oct. 2, 2020, Vemon 2 was initially delayed by several months with Sony eyeing a June 25, 2021 release date. Unfortunately, Sony was forced to delay the film again in pushing it back to Sept. 17, 2021, and then once again shortly after to the date it has held ever since: Oct. 15, 2021.

However, recent rumors have led many to wonder whether Venom 2 is about to be pushed back once again — this time into the next calendar year — but is there actually any truth to the rumors circulating around the internet?

Venom 2 release date: When will Venom 2 come out?

On Aug. 24, Vulture reported that Sony was planning on delaying Venom: Let There Be Carnage for the fourth time in looking to pull the highly anticipated sequel from the 2021 calendar and push it back to an early 2022 release.

Although original reports suggested a move was indeed in motion, it has since been confirmed by Screen Rant that Sony has no current plans to push Venom 2 back to 2022. Instead, it is reported the film will hold onto its Oct. 15, 2021 release date with Sony hoping to release the film in mid-October.
