Episode 3 of Marvel’s What If…? showed viewers a new kind of ripple in reality. While we’ve seen the big things from the Disney Plus show so far like T’Challa becoming Star-Lord and Peggy Carter becoming a Super Soldier, episode 3 didn’t show a big name hero dying. Well, she wasn’t one yet.
In this scenario, Janet van Dyne died on a S.H.I.E.L.D. mission way before she could become the Wasp. In fact, it happened before Iron Man 2. This leads to her father, Hank Pym, killing all of the Avengers on Earth.

Of course, Nick Fury isn’t going to let this stand. In the end, we see Fury wiping off the ice that held Captain America. We also saw Captain Marvel show up ready to fight. A soon to be major character’s death caused the destruction of the Avengers before we knew them. It also caused the birth of a new superhero team. And now, we have a completely different adventure ahead of us in the fourth episode.
The fourth episode will see Doctor Strange disobey a major rule when he messes with the timeline by using Eye of Agamotto (the Time Stone). Trailers for the show have also showcased him with a hero that appears to be Thor and, later, Doctor Strange in a Hell-like realm. That’s not the biggest part. It looks like Captain Carter will cross paths with him at some point (check the 40 second mark in the video below). With What If…? being a nine episode series, we could be looking at more than just a series of random alternate realities. With that in mind, expect something major to happen in this episode in regards to the multiverse.
