Supergirl season 6 will see Kelly Olsen transform into Guardian and a new synopsis reveals when and how it will happen.

The sixth and final season of Supergirl has a lot to juggle. It is, after all, the final season. But it doesn’t just have six years of storytelling to wrap up (no big deal, right?), it also has to juggle that with this season’s stories, reintegrating the Girl of Steel into the show and introducing the world to another new hero at the same time.

Recent episodes have seen the show tackle both of those elements as Kara Danvers returned from the Phantom Zone and resumed her role as National City’s savior, while Kelly Olsen proved that not all heroes wear capes as she fought for the overlooked kids in the prison and foster systems.

But that was only the beginning of Kelly’s journey to becoming one of the city’s heroes as her evolution into Guardian will continue in the coming weeks. And now, a new synopsis for Supergirl season 6, episode 12 has revealed when that will happen.

Supergirl season 6, episode 12 synopsis

The upcoming twelfth episode of Supergirl season 6, titled “Blind Spot”, was co-written written by J. Holtham and Kelly Olsen herself, Azie Tesfai, and it is directed by Arrow‘s David Ramsey. Ramsey will also reprise his role from the Arrowverse originator as John Diggle in an episode that will see Kelly officially transition into the next Guardian.

The episode’s official synopsis has been released and can be read below:

"Kelly (Azie Tesfai) is horrified when the Ormfell building implodes, injuring many in the community, including Joey (guest star Aiden Stoxx). However, her horror quickly turns to frustration when she realizes that the hospital is overwhelmed, people are getting sicker, and no one is coming to help – including Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) who is busy fighting Nyxly (Peta Sergeant). Knowing that she can make a difference, Kelly embraces her power and fully steps into her role as Guardian. Joined by Supergirl, Alex (Chyler Leigh), Diggle (guest star David Ramsey) and team, Guardian leads the way to restoring justice to the fallen community. The episode was directed by David Ramsey and written by J. Holtham & Azie Tesfai (#612)."

Supergirl has been setting up Kelly Olsen’s transition into Guardian since the original Guardian, her brother James, left National City in the show’s fifth season. The Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover featured her using his shield, setting the wheels in motion for her to officially take over the mantle in the final season.

The most recent episode accelerated that journey as Kelly showed what it took to be a hero before she ever dons that golden helmet.

Guardian is coming in Supergirl season 6, episode 12, which airs on The CW on Sept. 21 at 9:00 p.m. ET.
