A striking introduction to the event

Seeing what happened to the men in the comic book was one thing. Witnessing it in the TV series was another. The event was less than five minutes, but it felt like a lot longer. Men were dying out of nowhere and no one knew why. Blood was coming from their eyes and nose as they fell to the ground, cars and planes crashed all over the world and the President of the United States mysteriously died.

The worst part might have been seeing how kids and parents reacted when they found their loved ones dead. A little girl was left confused as her father died at the wheel of a car, a mother found her husband and son dead in her room; moments like these got across just how shocking and heart-wrenching this development was.

If this sequence was done wrong, the show could have failed. Seeing the results of this tragic incident highlighted the major consequences to the event. This was just the beginning, but it was a beginning that set the stage for an emotionally-compelling story about how the world will go on.
