Does Tim Drake die in Titans season 3?

Titans season 3 has brought Tim Drake into the fold, but how long will he be there for?

Tim Drake was one of the aspects of Titans season 3 that fans of the show were most excited about. The third Robin in DC Comics, it seemed as though he was set to follow in the footsteps of Dick Grayson, Jason Todd and indeed his comic book counterpart by becoming the next Boy Wonder.

Tim debuted early on in the third season, with Jay Lycurgo appearing in the first act of the season premiere. He has recurred throughout, surfacing in the sixth episode and now, again, in the eighth.

Tim’s appearance in the eighth episode was undoubtedly his most pivotal yet. Like his comic book counterpart, he revealed that he knew Dick Grayson was Nightwing (after discussing how he deduced the former Flying Graysons star was the original Robin and that Bruce Wayne was Batman). But his desire to be the next Robin led him down a path from which there may be no return.

Will Tim Drake die in Titans season 3?

After following Jason Todd, Tim accidentally crossed paths with Jonathan Crane. Unfortunately, that resulted in the Scarecrow gunning down the heroic hopeful in the closing moments of the episode.

A concerned Jason seemingly tried to help him, but he allowed the Titans to take over as he put some distance between himself and them. The team of heroes then called an ambulance as Dick, Kory, Gar, Conner and Blackfire attempted to comfort him.

Is this the end for Tim? That isn’t very clear. The fact that Jay Lycurgo isn’t a series regular might suggest that Tim won’t be on the show for long but that could also mean the exact opposite. Not only is it unlikely that Titans would kill off such an iconic comic book character so early into his first live-action appearance, there is a strong possibility that this season has been all about setting Tim up to become Robin next season. If that happens, expect Lycurgo to be promoted to series regular.

Will Tim Drake become Robin in Titans season 3?

Tim made his intentions very clear: He wants to be the next Robin. That’s a definite in his mind so, provided he survives the Scarecrow’s attack, you can bet that he will become the third Boy Wonder.

It seems like an inevitability at this point. The only question is: Will he be suiting up this season?
