Batwoman season 3 will premiere next month and now The CW has released its first trailer.

Days back, a teaser trailer for Batwoman season 3 was released by The CW along with some promotional art showing Javicia Leslie’s Ryan Wilder in all her glory, with the Scarlet Knight standing in front of the gate of Arkham Asylum. Now the network has released a full length trailer, featuring some iconic Batman villains.

The show had barely begun airing its second season when, back in February, it was announced that 12 original series on The CW were renewed, one of them being Batwoman of course.

With season 2 now completed, production has begun on season 3, with Robin Givens, Victoria Cartagena and Nick Creegan joining the cast as series regulars.

That’s only the beginning of what fans can expect from Batwoman season 3 as the aforementioned new trailer reveals that things are about to get much darker.

From the look of the third season’s teaser, Alice (Rachel Skarsten) will once again have a huge role to play, both from behind the bars of a cell at Arkham Asylum and when she is released into supervised custody. It’s a shocking plot development so it seems like the villain may be being released to take down someone else. Poison Ivy, perhaps?

Ryan and both Mary Hamilton (Nicole Kang) and Luke Fox/Batwing (Camrus Johnson) team up once again, as the Bat-Family seek to locate Batman’s collections of trophies – trophies that found their way out into the world in the season 2 finale. During the trailer, you also see Luke suiting up in his Batwing armor.

The real story of the trailer, however, is the arrival of the Mad Hatter as it appears that he will be one of the first major threats of the season. While Poison Ivy is also confirmed to appear, the trailer seems to feature another Batman villain in Killer Croc, meaning that Ryan and the Bat-Family will certainly have their hands full with the returns of some of Gotham’s oldest enemies.

The trailer also confirms that the show will return on Wednesday, Oct. 13. Batwoman has moved from Sundays to Wednesday nights (along with DC’s Legends of Tomorrow). Meanwhile, fellow Arrowverse series The Flash remains on Tuesday nights and will return to screens when the veteran Supergirl concludes its sixth and final season.
