The month of September has given comic book fans some major comic book moments to remember. The Bat-Family is dealing with the DC Fear State Experiment in Gotham City, Marvel’s Ben Urich could be close to exposing the Resurrection Protocol in Krakoa, and Doctor Strange was seemingly killed.
Those are only a few examples of how huge a month it was. Here are the best comic book moments for the month of September.
Johnny Storm is alone
Comic book: Fantastic Four No. 36
In Fantastic Four No. 34, Zora told her fiancée, Doctor Doom, that she slept with Johnny Storm a.k.a. the Human Torch. After a fight in the next issue, Doctor Doom turned Johnny’s powers up as much as they could go. The problem is he can’t turn them off or even down now.
In Fantastic Four No. 36. Reed promises that he’ll do whatever he can to change Johnny back. A promise Reed made to his best friend Ben Grimm and couldn’t keep. In hopes to turn the powers down, the team calls on Johnny’s ex Sky since their soul bands didn’t burn off. Unfortunately, she can’t help. After she removes Johnny’s Soul Binding , Sky asks to go home to her planet. The last thing we see is Johnny alone in a room too hot to even cry.
Why is this important?
Johnny Storm has always been the happy and carefree and visible member of the Fantastic Four. Now, he can’t be around anyone without hurting them. Johnny being isolated is going to teach him a hard lesson. Not being able to touch someone without the fear of hurting them will show him how Ben Grimm feels. Being abandoned by Zora and Sky within a week will humble him as well. He may not change too much, but we will see a difference.
