Julia Pennyworth returns

Comic book: Joker No. 7

For a series titled Joker, there have been quite a few issues where the Clown Prince of Crime doesn’t say anything at all. He only appeared at the very end in issue No. 6.

Normally, the lack of Joker in his own series would be a bad thing. In this case, it’s not. Joker has highlighted Jim Gordon in a big way. But Gordon isn’t the only character that seems to be getting a spotlight. In Joker No. 7, we saw the return of the daughter of Alfred Pennyworth’s daughter, Julia Pennyworth.

Why is this important?

Julia was was looking into what was going on in Santa Prisca, posing as someone who wants to turn it into a tourist attraction. Luckily for Barbara Gordon, they have a common goal. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be working together.

Julia doesn’t want anything to do with the Bat-Family after Bane killed her father in City of Bane. But having a common enemy means that they’ll be working together. It won’t be permanent, but this won’t be a one off either.

We’ll undoubtedly be seeing more of her. Maybe she’ll forgive them for what happened and help in Batman: Fear State. This may be doubtful though. Julia has a justified grudge against everyone in the Bat-Family. Although, as we’ve seen in comics, nothing lasts forever.
