Marvel’s What If…? season 2 will arrive on screens in the near future. In the meantime, here is everything you need to know about it.
It’s been quite the season for Marvel’s What If…? With adventures in the past that played out differently to destructive futures not even Thanos could have imagined, the possibilities were endless for Marvel’s first animated series and the Disney Plus show certainly lived up to expectations.
The Watcher joined us to watch the greatest alternative adventures the world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe could offer up, bringing in familiar heroes for new adventures and new heroes for familiar ones.
After much anticipation, the series completed its first season with a finale that brought all of the standalone adventures together as the Guardians of the Multiverse united. The good news is that What If…? will return for a second season of nine episodes.

What If…? season 2 release date
It’s currently known when season 2 of What If…? will premiere on Disney+ but it’s definitely worth remembering that the show will indeed be returning. As for when we can expect it, new episodes probably won’t arrive for some time as there are already plenty of Marvel Studios shows set to debut on Disney Plus in the coming year, including Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk.
The earliest we could expect What If…? season 2 would likely be late 2022 given that animation takes time and, again, there are plenty of MCU shows on the Disney Plus horizon.

It’s hard to even suggest a potential cast for the second season of What If…? simply because the talent involved in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is endless and there is no guarantee that those actors would reprise their roles via voice performance. That said, we can expect Jeffrey Wright to return as the voice of Uatu The Watcher.

As production on What If…? season 2 has yet to begin, it will be quite some time before a trailer for the second season surfaces.

What If…? season 2 synopsis: What is What If…? season 2 about?
The full plot details for What If…? season 2 have not yet been revealed. However, it has been confirmed that the show will be tackling an all-new storyline. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, head writer AC Bradley revealed that the scripts have already been written and that they would be aiming to pull from Phase Four, elaborating on that by teasing some of what we could see in season 2:
"“Hopefully, we’ll see hints of Eternals and Shang-Chi and the Black Widow characters. The fun of What If…? is that we get to explore the entire infinite multiverse, so we try and bounce around as much as we can. I want to play with all these characters, and as much as I love Captain Carter, we’ve got to share the love. I’m very excited to show new worlds, new heroes.”"
While we will see new heroes and new stories, we will also see some familiar faces as it has been confirmed that Hayley Atwell will be returning to voice Captain Carter.
