What If…?: Every episode ranked from best to worst

What If…?, the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first foray into animation was a smash hit, but what were its best episodes and its worst episodes?

When it was announced that What If…? would be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans of the MCU and earlier Marvel animated series were equally enthusiastic about the debut of the first animated addition to the franchise. While there have been a number of Marvel animated series through the years, none have encapsulated the Marvel Cinematic Universe launched with Iron Man in 2008.

Due to the storyline of Loki, What If…? was going to have to take place after the Disney Plus series based on the god of mischief. Otherwise, there would have been TVA shenanigans and interference with the storylines being told in What If…?

What If…? has a simple but brilliant premise

The premise of What If…? is simple. The show explores the many possibilities of what might have happened throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe had there been even the smallest of changes throughout the stories we are all so very familiar with.

Leading us throughout the stories of What If…? is The Watcher. Voiced brilliantly by Jeffrey Wright, we are guided throughout these unique spins on the plots of many of the previous movies in the MCU. Most of the characters in What If…? are voiced by the same actors who played the characters in the movies, though there are a few who are not.

What makes What If…? one of the most unique properties in the MCU is each episode tells a different story, and some work better than others. So with that in mind, here is my ranking of the nine episodes of What If…?
