Fans eager for Riverdale season 6 will have to wait a little longer as it won’t be arriving on The CW this month.

Riverdale has had no problem shocking viewers throughout the course of its five-season run. The veteran CW series has made a name for itself on its outlandish stories and inherently bonkers plot twists and the season 5 finale was no exception to that.

An epic episode that brought a close to some of the season’s major storylines (and one of the overall show’s long-running arcs), it ended in explosive fashion and left the fate of multiple beloved characters hanging in the balance.

It’s unusual that the show ended its season run in October, but that is just one of the many examples of how much The CW had to adapt its schedule this year after all of the 2020 production delays.

That means that Riverdale season 6 won’t quite make the typical October return date that the show has adopted over the years. The good news, though, is that fans don’t have to wait much longer for it.

Riverdale season 6 premiere date on The CW

Riverdale season 6 will premiere on The CW on Tuesday, November 16, at 9:00 p.m. ET. The show moves to a new night for the first time since season 2 and to a later time slot as it will now air new episodes after The Flash. We don’t yet know if that will be a permanent change for the 2021 – 2022 TV schedule or if it will just be for both shows’ five-episode runs during the fall.

Like The Flash, it will air just five episodes in the fall as the network attempts to return its schedule to normal after a year which saw the majority of its shows run into the summer. And also like The Flash, the network is making the most of the short-run by setting it up as a five-episode event that will feature none other than Chilling Adventures of Sabrina‘s Kiernan Shipka.
