Will What If…? air a new bonus episode today, October 13?

What If…? has been streaming new episodes on Disney Plus every Wednesday. But can we expect anything new one this week?

What if…? on Disney Plus gave viewers something different and at a perfect time. Right after Marvel Studios’ Loki introduced the Marvel Cinematic Universe to alternate realities, we got a show about alternate timelines.

Throughout the show, we saw wonderful worlds full of awe inspiring awesomeness. There were also universes of depressing destruction. Questions were answered like what if Ultron won in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Season 1 of What If…? concluded with a huge battle between Infinity Ultron and the Guardians of the Multiverse (Captain Carter, Party Thor, T-Challa the Star-Lord, Black Widow, Black Panther Killmonger, Gamora, and Demon Doctor Strange). In the end, Ultron was defeated by an Arnim Zola virus. As we all assumed he would, Zola wanted more and wanted to use the Infinity Stones. Unfortunately for him, so did Erik Killmonger. Foreseeing both of their betrayals, Uatu the Watcher and Doctor Strange Supreme created a pocket dimension to hold them. That dimension will be protected by the latter in his crystal prism. As good of an idea as this seems, there’s no way this doesn’t end poorly.

9 episodes in and now we have one more question: Will there be any new content on October 13?

Is What If…? new today, October 13

Unfortunately, there will not be a new episode of What If…? released this week. There is a tenth episode coming in the future that will be devoted to Gamora but it won’t be hitting screens this week.

A lot of fans wondered why Gamora was added to the Guardians of the Multiverse in the season 1 finale. Unlike the rest of the team, she didn’t have an episode focused on her beforehand. That may have helped viewers become more invested in her character surviving and the truth is that she was supposed to headline an episode. However, it had to be pushed until season 2.

When does What If…? return to Disney Plus for season 2?

As of now, there is no official release date for season 2 of Marvel Studios’ What If…?. The fourth quarter of 2022 seems like a likely possibility but nothing official has come from Marvel or Disney as of yet.

Until then, all we can do is patiently wait for Uatu to creepily appear in the sky to inform us when we’ll see the next season.
