Wonder Woman 3 has been confirmed at DC FanDome, but is the original Princess of Themyscira going to appear?

When you think of Wonder Woman, one of the few people that likely come to mind is the original Wonder Woman herself Lynda Carter. A pop culture legend, she is synonymous with the character and will, for many, always remain the definitive version due to her classic portrayal in the 1975 TV series.

It was only fitting that she and one of the other women we associate with the character, director Patty Jenkins, confirm that Wonder Woman 3 – a movie that will feature the third woman synonymous with the character (star Gal Gadot) – is indeed happening.

The announcement was made at DC FanDome during a special conversation between Jenkins and Carter, where they discussed the character’s comic book and on-screen legacy. During that conversation, Jenkins confirmed that some exciting things are coming up in the threequel.

That said, can we expect to see Carter appear in the movie?

Is Lynda Carter’s Asteria in Wonder Woman 3?

While it has not been officially confirmed if Lynda Carter will appear in the third Wonder Woman movie, her return is expected. The Amazon Warrior Asteria appeared in the mid-credits scene of the second film Wonder Woman 1984, revealing herself to be played by none other than Carter. As post-credits sequences usually tease what comes next in a franchise, it seems likely that Asteria will have some kind of role in Wonder Woman 3.

Both Jenkins and Carter’s comments at DC FanDome seem to support the possibility of the latter’s return. The director confirmed that the “three” of them were very excited about the threequel while Carter told Jenkins and the viewers that it was so “cool” that this gift would present itself to her.

If she does return, it will undoubtedly be a well-deserved tribute to the legendary actress.
