Is The Batman R-rated?
The Batman is coming to theaters next year and fans are excited. But what age rating is the movie?
It goes without saying that The Batman is going to be one of 2022’s biggest movies. The Matt Reeves directed DC film features Robert Pattinson in the titular role as the Dark Knight in the character’s first solo movie in eight years and it’s one of the most anticipated on the calendar.
Having already unveiled its premiere trailer at last year’s DC FanDome event, Matt Reeves, Robert Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz appeared at this year’s event to unveil the second trailer – billed as the “main trailer”. And, yeah, it looks amazing.
One thing that is clear from The Batman‘s two trailers is that the film is going to be dark. And no, we’re not just talking about visual darkness here.
From its disturbing villain in The Riddler to the amount of violent showdowns the trailers both tease, there will be a lot of mature content in The Batman. But just how far is it going to go in the maturity department?
The Batman age rating
While The Batman‘s age rating has yet to be officially confirmed, the movie is expected to receive a PG-13 rating. Not only would that allow it to reach a much wider audience, the fact that there is an abundance of merchandise aimed at younger children suggests that the movie will not be R-rated.
That being said, it’s always best to wait for official confirmation about a movie’s age rating before assuming anything, and that will come in the weeks or months ahead.
The Batman hits movie theaters on March 4, 2022.
