Locke and Key season 3 has premiered on Netflix, but where is the popular streaming service series filmed and set?

Locke and Key is back for one final adventure. The beloved Netflix series made quite the impression on viewers when its first season premiered back in February 2020, thrilling them for 10 episodes while its second season did the same in 2021. Both seasons left them wanting more. And now, they are going to get more – so much more, in fact – as the show returns to the streamer for its third and final season.

The third season of Locke & Key is now available to watch on Netflix and, based on the trailer that the streaming service recently released for it, it doesn’t plan on holding back when it comes to thrills, spills and possible kills. Taking things in a much darker direction, season 2 was much closer to the show’s comic book source material and season 3 could well be the same, meaning that the cushions to hide behind might be a necessary companion for a binge watch.

But no matter how dark the series gets, at least you can rely on the small town that the Locke family now lives in to provide you with some visual beauty.

Locke and Key is set in the fictional town of Matheson in the very real state of Massachusetts, but the show is actually filmed in Canada.

The town itself is actually a small port town called Lunenberg in Nova Scotia, while the majority of scenes set outside the town itself are filmed in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

As for the Keyhouse, it’s almost completely CGI – which is based on a front facade put together in the Canadian countryside.
