4. Contracts

As it was mentioned earlier, Mephisto doesn’t lie. It’s actually part of what makes the character brilliant and cunning. He’ll give you everything you want, but it always comes with a twist. Take Johnny Blaze for example. The deal Blaze made said that his father wouldn’t die of cancer. While this was certainly upheld, Blaze’s father died soon after in a motorcycle accident. Underhanded? It absolutely was, but Mephisto didn’t lie… and that’s how evil he is.

This is what we need from Mephisto in the MCU – someone who’s going to make these kinds of deals. Someone very much like Crowley in Supernatural. Everything you want will be there in his contracts, but the fine print is the thing that will kill you. Sometimes literally.

3. Powerful

Mephisto isn’t a fighter. He’s not going to punch and kick his way out of situations. But that doesn’t mean that he’s weak. Far from it, actually. He may not have the kind of power that matches Doctor Strange and Victor von Doom but that kind of power isn’t always what’s needed, particularly for someone as cunning as he is.

Mephisto’s power comes from all sorts of things. Among them is a mastery of knowing how to manipulate things to work in their favor; setting up dominos and letting them fall into place. Sometimes, it means losing to win later. With that comes our next section.
