5. Cyclops kills Xavier

Comic book: Avengers vs X-Men

It was the Avengers vs the X-Men for the future of Hope Summers and the Phoenix. The Avengers wanted to hide Hope from the Phoenix Force but the X-Men (mostly Cyclops) wanted Hope to get the Phoenix Force in hopes of restarting the X-Gene in mutants. A battle on the moon commenced and it ultimately ended with Cyclops, Emma Frost, Magik, Namor, and Colossus becoming the Phoenix Five.

At first, things looked good. The Phoenix Five and the mutants were making the world better. Then, the Phoenix Force started making them angrier. They completely forgot about restarting the X-Gene and started agendas of their own and even started fighting each other for power. This led to the X-Men joining the Avengers to take down the remaining two in Emma and Cyclops. During that battle, Cyclops took Emma’s power and, soon after, he killed his mentor, Professor Xavier.

It’s one thing if Wolverine or even Jean Grey kills Charles Xavier. It’s another when it’s Scott Summers. Cyclops looked at Xavier like a father. He’s personally responsible for Cyclops being the leader and man that he is. It was a sad moment that had to be recognized.
