Halloween 2021 is upon us so why not celebrate by bingeing these scary superhero TV shows?

The most frightful time of the year is upon us as we celebrate Halloween (cue: evil laughter), so don’t be surprised if the ghouls, goblins and ghosts make their presence felt in your living room on All Hallow’s Eve.

We say “living room” because, like last year’s, this year’s Halloween will understandably look quite different. However, current world events is more than enough cause for some good old-fashioned escapism, so sit back, turn on the TV and chill out – or, more appropriately, get chilled to the bone – and enjoy Halloween from your very own living room.

Though it might not seem like it, the comic book genre has provided us with some thrilling horror-inspired offerings over the years – and the small screen has plenty of them! On that note, here are some spookily scary superhero TV shows you should absolutely binge this year.

Lucifer

We can’t start a list of scary comic book TV shows without the devil himself. Lucifer has been a TV favorite for years now, with the show surviving an unexpected cancellation midway through its run because fans are just so passionate about it.

Based on the DC Comics version of the character, Lucifer follows the ruler of Hell as he turns up in Los Angeles in need of a break from all that punishing. But when he meets a mysterious detective who is immune to his devilish charms, he forms an unlikely bond with her and, together, the pair start punishing people on earth with the law.

Most of the time, Lucifer isn’t full-on terrifying, but it is full of high-intensity drama, hilarity and jump scares. However, when it wants to thrill, it’s more than capable of it.
