What demon is inside Captain Gideon?

In Locke and Key Season 2, we get a bit more of the origin story of the demons infiltrating this quaint part of Massachusetts and the keys of Key House. We first see the portal to the other dimension in the opening sequence of the season, and we’re introduced for the first time to Captain Gideon.

Captain Gideon was a British soldier and was ruthlessly hunting down revolutionaries. In his attempt to escape the vengeance of the colonists, he found himself in front of the portal that would later in life be blocked by the Black Door. After seeing one of his soldiers become posesssed with other worldly strength when struck by a whispering iron, Captain Gideon chooses to purposely get possessed.

When Eden summons him at the end of Locke and Key Season 2, we are immediately made aware that he is no ordinary demon. We don’t know what exactly is so significant about him because he is never given a name.

I am sure we will be made aware of exactly who Captain Gideon is in season 3, but it leaves us a mystery to ponder as season two comes to a close. We will have to wait to see how it plays out when season three debuts hopefully in 2022.
