Eternals age rating: Is the Marvel movie suitable for kids?
The Marvel Cinematic Universe grows with Eternals. Is the MCU’s newest installment suitable for family-viewing?
Chloé Zhao will unveil her chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe when Eternals hits movie theaters everywhere next month.
One of the most intriguing movies on the horizon, it’s part of the MCU’s fourth phase and continues that phase’s trend of focusing on new and lesser-known superheroes within the Marvel umbrella. It also features a star-studded cast of actors bringing those superheroes to life, including Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Kit Harington, Salma Hayek, Angelina Jolie and more.
Eternals has divided people a little more than an MCU movie normally would, but it has still received a mostly positive response, earning an incredible 75% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
But before you think about going to see it with your family, you might want to know what age rating Eternals boasts.
Is Eternals safe for family-viewing?
Eternals is rated PG-13. It has received this rating from the MPAA due to sequences of “fantasy violence and action, some language, and brief sexuality”.
While most Marvel movies are rated PG-13, making them mostly suitable and appropriate for family-viewing, what sets Eternals apart is the fact that it will reportedly feature what is being described as the MCU’s “first ever” love-making scene.
Of course, that suggests that caution should be taken. It’s unlikely that the scene will be explicit (Marvel Studios knows its audience and the PG-13 rating prevents it from going too far) but perhaps you should find out more details from someone you know who has seen it before you go.
It’s impossible to know exactly how intimate that scene will be until the movie is actually released, so if you’re thinking of going with the family to see the movie, it’s best to be cautious about doing so.
Eternals is released in theaters on November 5.
