Wonder Woman 3: What we need from the DCEU movie (and what we don’t)
By Mark Lynch
Wonder Woman kills
It may be a harsh reality for some, but in the comic books, Wonder Woman kills people when she has to. She won’t hesitate to take out someone evil if it means saving lives.
As we mentioned earlier, Maxwell Lord may not have survived the events of Wonder Woman 1984 had he been up against the modern day comic book iteration of Diana. She will take down anybody if it’s for the greater good, and with a threat level the size that Lord posed, she wouldn’t have hesitated in doing it. Even if it made her unpopular among her peers and the world.
No. Steve. Trevor
This is a must. As important a character that he is, Steve Trevor can’t be involved in another Wonder Woman movie until the franchise gets a reboot. Not in a flashback, not as a ghost, not at all. Sure, he’s important to Diana, but Wonder Woman 1984 jumped the shark by bringing him back. The ridiculous way it happened undercut the emotional impact of his death in the previous film and using him in that way in WW84 was weird.
Chris Pine is a great actor – he was particularly good in the Star Trek movies. Steve Trevor is an important part of Wonder Woman mythology. Nonetheless, the audience needs to forget he exists. Any kind of return would hinder the third movie. No, going forward, the franchise should avoid any and everything Steve Trevor related.
