Supergirl finale spoilers: Who dies in the Supergirl season 6 finale?

After six incredible seasons, Supergirl finally came to an end on Nov. 9 with a powerful 2-hour series finale event that is sure to keep fans talking for years to come.

Heading into the finale, it was clear we were in store for what would be an epic face-off between the Supergirl and the Super Friends and Lex and Nyxly. Considering in the penultimate episode, Lex has killed William and the pair then kidnapped Esme, there was no telling what the pair might do next… or who could end up caught in the crossfires next.

As the two-part finale began, Supergirl and company worked to come up with a plan to bring Esme home safely which caused some friction between the team with tensions at an all-time high.

Ultimately, they decided to meet with Lex and Nyxly to do an exchange: the totems in exchange for Esme and let’s just say the exchange didn’t exactly go down smoothly.

Keeping their end of the bargain, Alex and company showed up at the meeting point with the totems in their possession and handed them off after Esme was safely returned to them. With all totems coming together, the AllStone came together and a battle for the AllStone began.

During the battle, the AllStone became fractured with Lex, Nyxly and Supergirl each getting their hand on one of the fragments. Lex and Nyxly being, well, themselves, they quickly began battling one another in attempting to get full control of the AllStone which is where things turned deadly.

When Nyxly prepares to blast Lex, Lilian Luthor jumps in front of her blast. The move saves Lex, but Lilian eventually succumbs to the injury sustained from the blast and dies shortly after but not before she and Lena are able to share a sweet final moment.

It was definitely an interesting development as we weren’t anticipating Lilian to return only to be killed off — this time for real. At least her return gave Lena the chance to finally make amends with her mom while also giving the character a hero’s death of sorts in once again proving how far she’d go to protect her children.
