Supergirl series finale spoilers: How does Supergirl end?
Supergirl bowed out in emotional fashion, but just how did the Girl of Steel’s journey come to an end.
We knew it was coming and we still weren’t prepared. Supergirl came to a close on Tuesday night with its emotional two-hour series finale that saw Kara Danvers and the Super Friends (a lot of them) team up to take down the team of Nyxly and Lex Luthor.
It was confirmed last September that the show would bow out with an extended sixth and final season, which premiered earlier this year and then returned for new episodes in August.
*** Major spoilers from Supergirl season 6, episodes 19 and 20 ***
That final season concluded with the series finale that saw heroes from the past, present and future unite to take down the aforementioned villainous duo. But how exactly did Supergirl end? Well, a lot went down (to say the least). And with that, let’s jump right into it.
Does Kara die in the Supergirl series finale?
No, Kara Zor-El of Krypton does not die in the Supergirl series finale. The Girl of Steel battles the team of Nyxly and Lex with the help of all the Super Friends from past, present and future. However, Lex’s plan to unleash the Phantoms from the Phantom Zone on them backfires as the Phantoms come for him and Nyxly instead.
Who returns in the Supergirl series finale?
The Supergirl series finale saw multiple major characters from the show’s past make a comeback, including Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart), Winn Schott/Toyman (Jeremy Jordan), James Olsen/Guardian (Mehcad Brooks), Mon-El (Chris Wood) and Eliza Danvers (Helen Slater).
The episode also featured familiar villains, including Earth-X’s Overgirl, Red Tornado, the Parasite, the Nightmare Monster and the Kryptonian Dragon that Nyxly summoned earlier this season.
Do Alex and Kelly get married in the Supergirl series finale?
Yes, Alex Danvers and Kelly Olsen get married in the final episodes of Supergirl. Alex’s journey has been a big part of Supergirl‘s run, as she came out and learned to accept herself for who she was, so it was wonderful to see her and Kelly wed in the series finale. It was also wonderful to see the pair adopt Esme in the final season and grow their beautiful family.
How does Supergirl end?
As Kara watches her loved ones get married, she begins to feel stuck. Thankfully, Cat Grant is on hand to give her one last pep talk via the phone. That pep talk, of course, involves a lot of sassy one-liners. However, during it, she reveals that she knows Kara is Supergirl and that perhaps it’s time to live the life she wanted: As Kara and Supergirl.
As a result, Kara decides to reveal her identity to the world and take up Cat’s offer as the Editor-in-Chief at CatCo Magazine. And just like that, Kara and Supergirl are one: With the Girl of Steel free to live the life that she always wanted.
