Batman and the Red Hood may have defeated Warmonger, but that was only the beginning. More villains are on their way to terrorize Gotham City.

DC Comics’ Future State didn’t completely end in February. It continued with Future State Gotham. A series revolving around Jason Todd (Red Hood) attempting to infiltrate the Magistrate to shut them down for good.

Jason’s first mission to prove his loyalty was a big one. He had to capture Batman. But it wasn’t Bruce Wayne he was capturing. It was Timothy Fox (Lucius Fox’s son) and he was accused of a terrorist act in Gotham City.

The Magistrate thought that Batman created a giant bat-shaped crater in Gotham. Bruce Wayne told Jason that it was the new Batman too. Since both of them wanted the new Dark Knight gone, Jason went after him. We find out, however, that Bruce and the Magistrate were wrong. Timothy Fox was innocent and the real culprit was actually a villain named Warmonger. Thankfully, Jason realized this and defeated Warmonger despite being overpowered.

After things went back to what passes for normal in Gotham, Nightwing offers Jason a place with the rest of the Bat-Family. But Jason says he’s not ready yet. He wants to be with them, but believes he can only take down the Magistrate from the inside.

Later, Jason meets Timothy – who is shocked that Jason is staying with the Magistrate. That’s until he tells Tim about how Commissioner Gordon and Bruce worked together to help Gotham. He thinks they should do the same. Timothy agrees. Before they jump into action, though, Jason Todd creates a Bat-Signal for everyone in Gotham to see.

What’s next for Batman and Red Hood?

Jason and Timothy are going to protect the Future State version of Gotham City. With Red Hood on the inside, Batman will have access to files and whereabouts of criminals ruining their city. Thankfully, this partnership came at a perfect time as more threats have begun popping up in Gotham.

First, it looks like Hush has been the one impersonating Bruce Wayne for Jason. Jason is going to lose it when he finds this out. Next, the Magistrate got the guy responsible for the crater in Gotham. However, there’s no way they’re happy that they were used. Peacekeeper 01 will be watching Red Hood closely.

Lastly, there’s the New Joker. This mysterious villain is enough to make Harley Quinn and Punchline worry. And, if those women are concerned, then this is definitely a threat not to be taken lightly.

DC Future State is a must read for comic book fans and these villains just made it better.
