This Tuesday, a new episode of Riverdale season 6 airs on The CW. The long-awaited premiere of the sixth season, it is also the first episode of the five-episode-event.

Much like fellow CW veteran series The Flash, Riverdale will be returning with five-episodes in the fall 2021 schedule and making a special event out of it. That event will seemingly take place outside of the show’s normal continuity and it will feature the arrival of Kiernan Shipka’s Sabrina Spellman, launching that long-awaited crossover with Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

Riverdale‘s fifth season ended on a shocking note, with the fates of multiple characters up in the air as Hiram Lodge emphatically left the town behind for good. While it’s unclear if these episodes will give any kind of hints or clues towards the end of the previous season (or if the rest of the season in the spring 2022 season will do that), it will be set in the town which has now been renamed Rivervale.

The show moves to a new night for the first time since its first season, as it leaves Wednesday nights to air on Tuesday at the later time of 9 pm ET, following The Flash.
