DC’s Titans
Titans has always been an interesting topic of conversation among DC and TV fans. The former DC Universe series got off to a muddled and murky start thanks to the infamous “F@*K Batman!” line and the divisively violent first season that came next didn’t exactly help. Along the way, the show has shown promise but it always seemed to go off the rails just as it was starting to realize its potential. Season 3 finally rectified that.
Placing the focus on Jason Todd as he underwent his much-anticipated transformation from Robin to Red Hood, Titans was finally justifiably dark – and for the most part it was a success, with stakes higher than ever before giving it a greater sense of urgency. Moreover, having a story that focused on a Titan outside of Dick Grayson allowed for a different approach to its familiar conventions and the introduction of new characters such as Tim Drake and Blackfire created fresh new dynamics and imbued it with much more life.
It wasn’t a smooth ride to the finish, but Titans ultimately succeeded in delivering its most compelling, enjoyable – and most importantly, coherent – season thus far, leaving things in an interesting place for its fourth. Without a doubt, the most impressive comeback of the year.
