Marvel’s Hawkeye has been full of surprises, but the fifth episode contained the most yet. Who portrays Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin, on Hawkeye? *** Contains spoilers from Hawkeye season 1, episode 5 ***

Marvel’s Hawkeye is the last of the Marvel Cinematic Universe offerings to make their presence felt on Disney Plus streaming service.

Following in the footsteps of WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki and Marvel’s What If…?, it reintroduces us to Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton as he attempts to have a normal Christmas with his family.

But normal is easier said than done in the MCU, as the latest episode reminded us, with Clint attempting to figure out who hired a Black Widow assassin to kill him, stop the Ronin madness that has spiralled out of control and ensure that Kate Bishop remains out of it.

The most recent episode, aptly titled “Ronin”, saw Yelena Belova discover who actually hired her to take down Clint. Upon sending a text message to Kate, viewers discovered that it was indeed Eleanor Bishop and that she was meeting with “the big guy” known as the Kingpin. But just who plays the Marvel Comics villain?

Is Daredevil’s Vincent D’Onofrio playing the Kingpin in Hawkeye?

The Kingpin is portrayed by Vincent D’Onofrio on Hawkeye. The star is, of course, renowned for playing the role of the Marvel antagonist on Netflix’s critically-acclaimed Daredevil, serving as the primary villain of the show and he has gone down in history as one of the greatest on-screen villains of all time.

There have been plenty of rumors suggesting that he would reprise his role on Hawkeye, with D’Onofrio himself teasing his involvement via Twitter. While it had not yet been confirmed is that was true, a number of references to the character surfaced throughout the series.

Moreover, the confirmation from Kevin Feige that, if Daredevil appears in the MCU, he will be portrayed by Charlie Cox (the lead of the Netflix series) also confirmed the rumors that Marvel Studios was happy to progress with the characters, using the actors who established the roles on the Netflix show. Whether or not any of that continuity will be retained remains to be seen.

Hawkeye adds new episodes to Disney Plus on Wednesdays.
