Kate Bishop is the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s newest superhero, but what is the Hawkeye hero’s actual hero name in the comics?

Kate Bishop is, without question, the scene stealer of Marvel’s Hawkeye. Portrayed by Hailee Steinfeld, Kate has proven herself to be pretty formidable when it comes to holding her own in the superhero business.

Throughout the course of the six-episode Disney Plus series, Kate has battled the Tracksuit Mafia, Maya Lopez (a.k.a. Echo) and even the Kingpin himself, Wilson Fisk. And it has all earned the respect of none other than Hawkeye.

In the season finale, Kate teamed up with Clint Barton in an official capacity as the pair of archers took down the Tracksuit Mafia, disrupted the Kingpin’s plans and protected Eleanor Bishop from his wrath. It all saw Clint confirm that the budding hero had earned his respect.

With Kate destined for big things in the superhero world, it came time to give her an official name, with the quirky young hero tossing out names such as Ladyhawke, Hawk Eve, Hawk Shot and Lady Arrow before Clint told her that he had an idea. But we never actually got to hear what Hawkeye’s idea was, leaving fans wondering what Kate’s codename is in the comics.

Kate Bishop hero name

Kate Bishop’s superhero codename in Marvel Comics is none other than Hawkeye. While she has had a number of nicknames like Hawkette, Hawkingbird, Kate-Hawk and Lady Hawkeye, her official moniker is the same as the man who inspired her, Clint Barton, which she took on to honor him.

With that in mind, it’s likely that the MCU’s Clint was referring to his own codename when he revealed that he had an idea. If this does turn out to be the case, there is a chance we could see the original Hawkeye officially retire from action, allowing Kate to take on the mantle and carry it forward into the MCU’s next phase.

All six episodes of Hawkeye season 1 are now available on Disney Plus.
