Daredevil season 4 release updates: Is another season happening?
Recent reports suggest Matt Murdock is coming back to screens but is Daredevil season 4 really happening? Here is everything we know about its rumored return.
The cancellation of a TV series always stings for fans of the show that has its plug pulled, but the sting is that much worse when it’s clear that show wasn’t ready to bow out and it was still successful enough to continue. Marvel’s Daredevil fell into both of those categories, which is what made its cancellation both shocking and frustrating.
Daredevil ran for three seasons, releasing all three of them on Netflix between 2015 and 2018. It was reportedly among the streaming service’s five most popular shows and constantly found itself receiving critical acclaim. Unfortunately, the show was cancelled after its third season in spite of a highly positive response and a pitch from the creator for a fourth season.
It has been four years since the show’s untimely cancellation, but rumors suggest that we haven’t seen the last of Charlie Cox or the Man Without Fear.
Below, you’ll find all the up-to-date information you need about the rumored Daredevil project, any rumors about its premiere in the movie theater or on Disney Plus, its cast, any trailers and more.
Is Daredevil season 4 really happening?
According to insider Daniel Richtman (via Knight Edge Media), Marvel Studios is interested in bringing back the cast of the Netflix series, but their returns would serve as something of a soft reboot. What does this mean? Well, it seems that they would portray new versions of their respective characters but that these characters would already be well-established in this universe. So the events of Daredevil would take place in an alternate universe while these new Marvel Cinematic Universe versions would essentially be their MCU variants (for those of you who watch Loki).
As for how they could return? The rumor suggests that the characters would return via the Hawkeye spin-off series Echo before then being packaged into their own film or TV property – which fans believe would then serve as Daredevil season 4.
With Charlie Cox appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home, it is looking more likely that Marvel could bring Daredevil back to fans. That said, until the news is confirmed via a major reputable outlet, it’s best to take all rumors with a pinch of salt.
While the cast for the potential Daredevil reboot has not been confirmed, the report does state that Marvel is interested in bringing back some of the original cast. With that in mind, you would have to expect the likes of Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil), Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page) and Vincent D’Onofrio (Wilson Fisk/Kingpin) to return.
What could Daredevil season 4 be about?
Right now, there is no way of knowing what a potential Daredevil continuation story would be about. The rumors state that Marvel are interested in resetting the characters’ stories, meaning that it would be similar versions of the Netflix characters but that they may not have had all of the same experiences as their predecessors.
Then again, perhaps the show would be more of a continuation of the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. With the rumors that Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock is set to appear and now these rumors of alternate versions of the Netflix characters, Peter Parker and Doctor Strange’s trip into the multiverse could be exactly what causes the creation of the alternate Daredevil timeline.
One would also assume that, if the characters debut in Echo, then their own film or TV project would be directly related to the events in that series.
Again, it’s important to take these rumors with a pinch of salt until Marvel Studios officially confirms them, but it is quite an exciting time to be a Daredevil fan, that’s for sure.
