Hawkeye has now concluded, but which Marvel shows will be taking its place in 2022?

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has enjoyed an incredible resurgence in 2021, with it returning to prominence after a year without any new content. But it didn’t come on the big screen (though that would happen later into the year), no it came on the small one, with a series of Disney Plus shows bringing the MCU to TV.

WandaVision started it all in January, but it would soon be followed by The Falcon and the Winter SoldierLoki, Marvel’s What If…? and, now, Hawkeye.

The last of those shows just completed its run, as Clint Barton tried to complete his new and unexpected mission and make it home in time for Christmas, while the MCU got a brand new superhero in Kate Bishop.

With the MCU’s dominance on Disney Plus set to continue in 2022, fans are more excited for the future of Marvel Studios than ever. But just what is next for the MCU on the streaming service?

Will Ms. Marvel follow Hawkeye in 2022?

The truth is that the identity of the next Marvel Studios Disney Plus series is unknown. While we do know the options for what it could be, the juggernaut has yet to announce what the next one in the running order is.

In theory, the most likely option for the sixth Disney+ show is Ms. Marvel. It was initially planned for a Q4 release in 2021, but Hawkeye‘s festive theming resulted in the studio opting to release it at the holidays instead. We know that the Iman Vellani-led series will premiere in summer 2022, but it’s unclear if we’ll have to wait that long for another MCU series on Disney Plus.

If that’s too long a wait, there is a chance that we could see She-Hulk or Moon Knight brought forward to a spring 2022 release. They are both confirmed to release this year, and both have completed filming, so the studio could always opt to release one of them ahead of Ms. Marvel.

In the meantime, Star Wars spin-off The Book of Boba Fett will take Hawkeye‘s Wednesday slot for the next seven weeks, with the streamer continuing its tendency to swap out the Marvel and Star Wars shows in the main event Wednesday slot (which was formerly on Fridays).

All six episodes of Hawkeye season 1 are now available to watch on Disney Plus.
