Colin Farrell’s Penguin series: When is it released on HBO Max?
Colin Farrell will return as The Penguin in The Batman-centered HBO Max series featuring the crime lord.
As reported by Variety, Colin Farrell will indeed be portraying Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot a.k.a. The Penguin in the character’s upcoming HBO Max series.
The spin-off will focus on the rising mobster before he eventually becomes one of The Dark Knight’s most nefarious villains and Farrell has been attached to the project since its announcement, which is no surprise as he is set to play the character in the most-anticipated movie of 2022 The Batman.
That being said, while his involvement was known, it was not until recently that it was reported he would be the one playing the role.
Lauren LeFranc has been tapped to write the script for the series and is serving as showrunner with Matt Reeves and Dylan Clark being credited as executive producers.
When is The Penguin’s HBO Max series coming?
The Penguin series was announced back in September as being in development for the HBO Max streamer. It is the second planned spin-off from Matt Reeves’ The Batman, with the as of yet untitled Gotham PD series on the horizon as well.
That series will be set a year prior to the events of The Batman and it has not yet been confirmed if Robert Pattinson or Jeffrey Wright will reprise their respective roles as Bruce Wayne / Batman and Commissioner James Gordon in it. As it was announced first, however, there is a strong chance it might air before Farrell’s Penguin series.
The Penguin series will be produced under Matt Reeves’ 6th and Idaho Productions, Dylan Clark Productions, DC Films and Warner Bros. Television. It is expected to stream in the near-future on HBO Max.
