10. Dormammu and the giant bullet

Marvel Comic book: Guardians of the Galaxy No. 18

Dormammu is one of the most powerful beings in Marvel Comics. Take that power and make it as big as Ego the Living Planet and you have a frightening sight. No one knew how to stop something this massive. It’s funny that all it took was a giant gun.

“Giant gun” is an oversimplification of what happened. It was an anti-magic bullet made of Mysterium from Krakoa and it was shot by a gun made by Cable and his team (Cable: Reloaded) and powered by both the Nova Force and Star-Lord’s power. Essentially, a bullet made to stop a god. And it worked.

9. A new Phoenix

Marvel comic book: Avengers No. 44

For as long as a Phoenix has been possessed by someone on Earth, it’s been inhabited by a mutant. That all changed this year when Maya Lopez (a.k.a. Echo) became the new Phoenix after winning a tournament and overcoming death.

Not only did Maya Lopez win and come back from death, she beat Namor worse than anyone has before. If she hadn’t shown him mercy, he would have died. Thankfully, Echo spared his life. This upcoming year, Marvel Comics will undoubtedly show how she adapts to this new god-like power. Hopefully, Echo gets the run she deserves, especially with her Disney Plus show on the way as well.
