Here is the critics consensus for Trainwreck on Rotten Tomatoes:
"Trainwreck drags commitment out of all but the most rom-com-phobic filmgoers with sharp humor, relatable characters, and hilarious work from Amy Schumer."
The movie Trainwreck showed John Cena was willing to step aside as the lead role in a film and play a more character driven role. His role as Amy Schumer’s boyfriend in Trainwreck was a welcome breath of fresh air.
This role for John Cena also showed John Cena wasn’t just a muscle bound brute who couldn’t act. Trainwreck allowed him to explore more comedic elements to acting and he was able to expand his audience by starring in a romantic comedy, something many probably would not have seen coming when the former wrestler decided to go into show business.
Trainwreck was a box office hit. The movie had a budget of $35 million and it ended up taking in $141 million worldwide at the box office. It was a successful film on multiple levels.
You’re always welcome to make your own justification about the quality of a movie. Trainwreck can currently be rented on Amazon Prime Video.
